When you're riding a motorcycle, you know that your safety often relies on others. You don't have the same protections as typical passenger-vehicle drivers, and a collision is likely to be serious or fatal.

Sadly, a crash happened in Salem and resulted in a death as a result of a motorcycle crash. This is a prime example of how a collision can be a deadly situation for a motorcycle and why drivers must always pay attention and watch out for them.

A 64-year-old man from Salem has been identified as the victim in a fatal motorcycle crash on Highway 214. The passed away from his injuries after a driver collided with his vehicle, the Oregon State Police reported.

After an investigation, it was found that an 82-year-old man had been heading north on the highway when he lost control of his Toyota Corolla and entered into oncoming traffic. That resulted in him colliding with the motorcyclist and his passenger.

The motorcyclist's passenger was rushed to Silverton Hospital, and the motorcyclist was transported by Life Flight to Salem Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. His passenger suffered serious injuries, while the driver of the Toyota Corolla was not injured.

If you or a loved one is hurt or killed in a motorcycle crash, the at-fault driver should always be held responsible. The accident may not have been intentional, but that does not excuse someone from taking responsibility for their part in a serious injury or death. Your attorney can help you fight for fair compensation if you've been victimized in a crash like this.
